When remodeling a room you should always insulate exterior-facing walls before installing new drywall, to increase your home’s overall efficiency. We will remove old insulation and install new insulation with a higher R value. R value is the capacity of an insulating material to resist heat flow. (The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power). When selecting insulation, it is important to measure and choose insulation intended for the size of the wall–purchasing insulation that is thicker then the wall space will decrease the R value when compressed. Example: for a 2×4 wall, we would install insulation that is no more than 3.5 inches thick. Insulation should also be added to attic spaces, crawl spaces, around window and door jambs, and, for increased noise barriers and internal efficiency, some choose to add to internal walls and ceilings.
